Bidding Conditions

These conditions apply to every timed auction on Pinhooker Bloodstock and form part of our Terms of Service.

1. Registration & deposits

To place a bid you must hold a verified account and have an authorised deposit on the specific lot. Deposits are held via Stripe and released automatically for losing bidders once the auction closes.

2. Bid increments

Each auction publishes a minimum bid increment. Bids below the current price plus the minimum increment are rejected automatically.

3. Anti-sniping extension

If a valid bid is placed inside the final 5 minutes of an auction, the closing time is extended by a further 5 minutes. This continues until 5 minutes pass with no new bids.

4. Reserve

Lots may carry a confidential reserve. If the highest bid does not meet the reserve, the auction closes as "passed" and deposits are released.

5. Winning a lot

The highest bidder above reserve at close wins. Their deposit is captured toward the sale price and Pinhooker Bloodstock will coordinate settlement with the vendor.

6. Buyer's premium & taxes

Buyer's premium, VAT and any applicable transport, insurance or export costs are added to the hammer price as specified in each lot.

7. Bid retraction & disputes

Bids are binding. Retraction requests are only considered in exceptional circumstances at our sole discretion. Admins may override auction outcomes in cases of technical failure, fraud or breach of these conditions.

8. Prohibited practices

Shill bidding, coordinated bidding, use of automated agents, or interference with other bidders will result in bid cancellation, account suspension and possible legal action.

9. Vendor obligations

Vendors warrant the accuracy of their descriptions and their right to sell the horse. Post-sale examinations and warranties are governed by the individual lot description and the vendor–buyer sale contract.
